About the Position

Reporting directly to the Senior Pastor, the Worship Pastor must be called to IBC. The ideal candidate will have a heart for worship, a deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and a commitment to Biblical truth. The Worship Pastor provides spiritual leadership for IBC’s Worship Arts Ministry through the gift of music and prayer, sharing the Word of God and the news of Jesus Christ through the use of song, multimedia, visual and non-visual performances, to help the congregation and community understand and experience the love of Christ and develop a strong foundation of faith.

Responsibilities include:

Pastoral Responsibilities

ü Provide pastoral care to those in the Worship Arts Ministry and members of the congregation, as needed.

ü Is under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and works in cooperation with the entire staff.

ü Participate in pastoral and staff meetings, prayer gatherings, and church-wide events.

ü Oversee the music and worship support for all church services, special meetings, ministries, and other church related activities (i.e., Church camp, retreats, Funerals and Weddings) in cooperation with the appropriate individuals or groups.

Ministry Responsibilities

ü Develop and oversee a Worship Art Ministry strategy that engages multiple generations and encourages congregational participation.

ü Coordinate with the Senior Pastor and other ministry leaders to ensure worship services align with sermon themes and church-wide initiatives.

ü Recruit, train, and mentor worship team members, fostering spiritual growth and musical excellence.

ü Lead and shepherd the worship team (vocalists, musicians, and technical crew) through rehearsals, spiritual encouragement, and discipleship.

ü Fosters a community of cooperation and excellence in all aspects of the Worship Arts Ministry.

ü Selects, arranges, and prepares songs, scripture, call to worship, prayers and coordinates relevant media for the choir and worship teams (band and vocalists) on a weekly basis.

ü Needs to be proficient in directing and conducting both choir and orchestra/praise band and in leading the congregation in song.

ü Coordinates the training and use of instrumentalists and vocalists in groups or as individuals as is necessary.

ü Help bridge generational/cultural differences by selecting a balance of musical styles for every service which will, as a whole, have multi-generational and multicultural appeal;

Required qualifications

ü The Worship Pastor is to be trained musically. A seminary degree is preferred.

ü The Worship Pastor shall possess the relational interpersonal skills for working with adults, students, and children of all ages within the congregation.

ü He must be gifted in communication, instrumental (be able to lead on either piano or guitar) and vocal music.

ü He is to be self-motivated, have a teachable spirit to grow as a person and as a leader, and be a strong team player among his fellow staff, working together to strengthen all areas of the church’s ministry, having the proven ability to involve others in planning and decision-making.

ü A minimum of 5-years as a Worship Pastor of a church with a congregation of 500 worshippers.

ü Experience with ministering in an international congregational context, with multi-lingual appreciation will be an asset.

Remuneration will commensurate with relevant qualifications and experiences.
