[Remote] Paralegal I - Privacy (Part-Time)

The Paralegal I position is an entry-level, part-time role that supports Petco’s U.S. privacy compliance program by processing privacy rights requests/data subject requests in compliance with established procedures.


Responsibilities

  • This role provides critical support to Petco’s U.S. privacy compliance program.
  • The position is responsible for investigating, processing, fulfilling, and documenting all Data Subject Requests (DSARs) on behalf of Petco.
  • DSARs may include consumer or workers’ requests to delete, correct, or access their personal information; limit how their personal information is used; and exercise similar rights under U.S. privacy laws.
  • Using established templates and Standard Operating Procedures within OneTrust, the Paralegal I communicates directly with data subjects who are seeking to exercise their privacy rights; researches these data subjects in Petco systems; grants the data subjects’ requests in compliance with Petco’s established Standard Operating Procedures; and directly coordinates with IT system owners and business stakeholders to ensure all requests are fulfilled within legal deadlines.
  • The Paralegal I works extensively within OneTrust and ServiceNow on a daily basis and maintains records demonstrating and documenting the Company’s fulfillment of DSARs.
  • In addition, this individual proactively monitors for, identifies, escalates, and resolves any challenges or issues in OneTrust or ServiceNow that may impact the DSAR workflow; timely fulfillment of DSARs; and other regulatory risks related to DSARs.

  • Knowledge of, or a passion and ability to learn about, U.S. privacy laws, such as the CCPA, CDPA, and VCDPA, under the guidance of the U.S.-based legal team.
  • College degree and/or paralegal certificate from an accredited paralegal program.
  • Demonstrated interest or focus on litigation defense; regulatory matters; risk mitigation; privacy laws; and/or corporate compliance programs.
