Newfire is seeking a RCM Data Engineer who thrives at the intersection of healthcare and data engineering, eager to tackle the unique challenges of Revenue Cycle Management and shape the future of scalable data platforms.

This is a temporary, full-time role for 4–6 months, fully remote but limited to candidates based in the US.

Key Responsibilities


As an RCM Data Engineer on this transformative project, you will:
  • Ingest, process, and transform 837/835 claims data and clinical data into Snowflake.
  • Build and optimize dbt pipelines for all transformation logic.
  • Support the unwinding of legacy application customizations into scalable modern workflows.
  • Partner with RCM analysts, product teams, and leadership to translate business rules into robust data pipelines.
  • Validate analytics to ensure accuracy in billing, reimbursement, and IDR workflows.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to reduce backlog and maintain velocity during permanent team hiring.
  • Document processes and enable smooth knowledge transfer to permanent engineering staff.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering / data architecture.
  • 3+ years of direct experience with healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) data and workflows.
Expertise in:
  • Snowflake (schema design, query optimization, large-scale analytics).
  • AWS-based ETL, with proven experience parsing 837/835 claim/payment files.
  • dbt for building and managing data transformations.
  • Strong knowledge of EDI X12 (837/835) standards and healthcare billing workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare billing, payer/provider data flows, and revenue cycle KPIs.
  • Demonstrated success consolidating disparate RCM datasets and modernizing legacy billing logic into modern data platforms.
  • Ability to translate complex RCM data into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to HIPAA compliance and secure handling of healthcare data.

Benefits


Newfire Global is committed to consistent compensation practices across our organization. The compensation for this role is market-driven, with a salary of $100 - $175 hourly. This pay is ultimately determined based on a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience.
