Are you passionate about books, learning, and creating a welcoming space for students and teachers? Join my client as a Library Assistant, where you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and enriching the school library experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate and maintain the Library Automation System (circulation, enquiries, database updates).
  • Organise and classify library collections using the Dewey Decimal System/genres.
  • Maintain supplementary resources (articles, magazines, databases) to support teaching and learning.
  • Ensure an inviting library environment with clear signages, guides, and collection displays.
  • Safeguard the integrity of library data (bibliographic records, patron information, collection status).
  • Manage circulation, inventory checks, collection development, and liaise with suppliers for acquisitions.
  • Prepare reports on library usage, loans, enquiries, and activities.
  • Support and promote engaging library programmes (orientations, user education, book reviews, Library Week, quizzes).
  • Provide loan, reference, and enquiry services to students and staff.
  • Gather feedback from users to continuously enhance library resources and services.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum GCE ‘O’ Level qualification.
  • Friendly and approachable, with a genuine interest in working with students and teachers.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Open to learning how to operate the Library System (training will be provided).
  • Physically fit to manage shelving, lifting, and handling of books.
