How you succeed The Support Software Engineer serves as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Application Services team, delivering exceptional application services and custodianship for Wealth Management (Private and Premier Banking) users and customers globally. This role is critical for ensuring production stability and driving continual service improvement for channel applications, including client onboarding, compliance, digital platforms, content management, and advisory services. The engineer will respond, analyze and manage user queries, resolve production incidents, oversee daily business batches, collaborate and improve systems with development teams and product owners. The role demands effective incident and problem management to ensure timely resolution of production issues along with risk management. What you do Provide comprehensive support for front and back-office operations, ensuring seamless business processes and system functionality. Develop a strong understanding of end-to-end banking processes, collaborating closely with stakeholders in the Front Office (e.g., Relationship Managers, Business Managers, Assistant Relationship Managers) and Back/Middle Office (e.g., Operations, Product Management). Work with internal teams to resolve production incidents, focusing on functional issues and employing Problem Management techniques to identify root causes with deep-dive. Make recommendations or deliver automation for permanent solutions to recurring incidents, collaborating with relevant units to minimize Level 1 and Level 2 incidents. Provide on-call and on-site support on a rotational basis, including after-hours and weekend support as needed for application support and change deployment. Contribute to the development of functional and technical specifications for system bugs and enhancements, playing a key role in prioritizing changes and tracking delivery. Conduct testing of application bug fixes and enhancements as part of the release management process. Assist delivery team to reduce the number of rollbacks. Collaborate with the Technology Architecture team to ensure robust system design, minimizing operational risks and ensuring proper data structuring and control within the business. Prepare training materials and conduct training sessions as necessary, including cross-training other members of the Application Services team. Able to monitor and report on risk status and effectiveness of mitigation measures. Ability to identify common risks in processes, projects and systems. Who you are Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. 5+ years of experience in application technologies in Banking and Financial Services organizations. Hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, Microsoft .NET, modern web development frameworks, Python and related technologies. Proficient in database management (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL), operational systems (LINUX, Windows Server), batch management systems (Control-M), JEE Application Servers (WebLogic, JBoss, WebSphere), Microservices, and AI ecosystems. Solid understanding of technology security, cryptography, certificates, and cyber defence principles. Basic knowledge of Wealth Management products and business processes. Experience implementing or supporting Front Office initiatives in financial services. Excellent communication skills (verbal, interpersonal, written) and strong analytical abilities. Proven experience in application support and user query management (L1/L2). Ability to manage third-party vendors and evaluate their performance against SLAs. Strong problem-solving skills with a commitment to a zero-defect mindset.
